Nominations are now open for members interested in serving on the Board of Directors of the Greater Louisville Association of Realtors® (GLAR) or Metro Search, Inc. (now APEX MLS) our MLS Board. Any Realtor® Member meeting the eligibility requirements may nominate themselves by submitting a completed online nomination form to the Nominating Committee no later than 5:00 pm on July 1, 2025.

Having strong, diverse leadership is essential to the success of an organization. As a member, you have the unique opportunity to share your knowledge and experience and impact your association's strategic decisions. We hope you will apply and share your insights and talents with us!

GLAR Leaders and staff attended the recent NAR REALTORS® Legislative Meetings in Washington, D.C, representing Greater Louisville and Kentucky. These meetings bring together thousands of REALTORS® from across the nation to unite for a common cause—advancing the real estate profession and homeownership through powerful, impactful advocacy.

We enhanced our voice through direct one-on-one conversations with our representatives in Congress, and they especially heard us declare the need for more housing inventory, stable interest rates, protecting the interests of our members as self-employed professionals, and more.

The KYR ELECTION PROCESS AND CAMPAIGN RULES allow a REALTOR® who does not plan to register for the meeting to vote for Director at-Large or Delegate at-Large positions, provided they give written notice of their intent to vote within the required timeframe. For KYR elections taking place during the upcoming Summer Retreat, the Delegate at-Large race is contested, as there are four candidates for three positions. The other contested race is for Treasurer-elect, however KYR Delegates elect the Treasurer-elect position, therefore, non-Delegates will not receive an electronic ballot for the Treasurer-elect race.

REALTORS® may CLICK HERE to notify KYR that you will not register for the Summer Retreat but wish to receive an electronic ballot for the Delegate at-Large race. The window to provide a written notice of your intent to vote in the KYR Delegate at-Large race is open until June 8, 2025. This link will be deactivated on June 8, 2025, at 5 pm. The GLAR Foundation Board of Directors is actively working to extend the reach of REALTOR® goodwill throughout our local communities— providing meaningful impact to help your clients achieve homeownership.

Thanks to the collaboration and generosity of both the GLAR and MLS Boards, we donated $10,000 to the REALTORS® Relief Fund through the GLAR Foundation to support families in our region impacted by severe weather. This contribution will assist hundreds of local residents as they begin to rebuild. And we’re just getting started. We’re launching a new initiative that will help members and offices stay better connected, more informed, and fully equipped to take advantage of all the resources and benefits the Greater Louisville Association of REALTORS® has to offer — the NEW GLAR Ambassador Program. The goal is simple -- to strengthen communication by having a designated Ambassador in each office who can share timely updates, promote GLAR happenings, highlight member tools and programs, and serve as a trusted go-to for association information. After careful consideration and member feedback, our Board of Directors decided NOT to adopt the NAR recommendation of delayed marketing status. We believe maintaining our current approach better supports transparency, market efficiency, equal access, and exposure to listing information for all participants. Essentially, there will be no changes made related to our current policy.

Secondly, our MLS team has streamlined our process for office-exclusive listings in an effort to improve efficiency and internal collaboration within brokerages. Rather than being sent to staff, office exclusive listings can now be entered directly into the MLS and flagged as an "office exclusive." This will simplify the management of these listings and allow all agents within the listing brokerage to readily access and share them through our existing MLS platform, FLEX. This update will be launched within the next few weeks! We will provide another update once officially implemented.

Kentucky REALTORS® are going to Churchill Downs! In an effort to accommodate more of our REALTOR® members, KYR is moving the date for RPAC At the Track to Friday, June 13th. The event will now take place during the daytime races. Gates Open at 11:30 am and First Post at 12:45 pm. Please join Kentucky REALTORS® on Friday, June 13th, for our inaugural RPAC At the Track!
